Strategic Interest Groups (SIGs) are professional development and networking forums that enable members to get together to discuss issues and challenges, explore emerging trends, exchange ideas and network with peers in like specialties. SIGs can be role, location, medium or issue specific. These groups are member-driven and chapter-supported. For more information, see the SIG How-to Guide.

Independent Communicators
Coodinator: Karen Campbell

The Independent Communicators SIG is a forum for communicators who operate their own business, contract for their services, work as the only communications employee in an organization, or are exploring the possibility of working independently. We network, share experiences and ideas, and support each other's professional development.

Lone Communicators
Coordinator: Cary Thomson

The Lone Communicators SIG is for those who are the only communicator in their organization. It provides an opportunity to connect with other 'orphan' communicators to share ideas and experiences.

Social Media

The Social Media SIG is a forum for communicators to discuss all things social media. Check out the Social Media SIG wiki.

New Intranet SIG - Call for Interest

Are you working on an internet or portal project? We're looking to start up an Intranet Strategic Interest Group (SIG) and wanted to gauge the level of interest in this topic. The SIG would be a meeting place to share ideas, discuss challenges, debate issues and regale one another with stories (both success and horror!) related to all things intranet. If you're interested, please get in touch with Jane Nunnikhoven at 604-877-8209.

Are you interested in starting a SIG? You can start a brand new group, or start with a group of peers that you may already meet with informally. Everything you need to know to get started is in the SIG How-to Guide. Please contact sig@iabc.bc.ca with any questions.
